Biography Dr. Leon Joplin grew up in West Texas. His
interest in music began as a child as he listened to gospel music
in church. His grandfather would ask him to sing some of the songs
that he had learned in church. His mother kindled a love for music
by sending him to piano lessons. His mother did this at a great sacrifice.
Despite their poverty, she would work extra to afford special things
for her family. In 1999, Leon wrote his first three songs.
He helped start a band called His Messengers. They performed Christian
Country and Southern Gospel music in the panhandle area of West Texas.
The band was under the direction of Wayland Hazel, Leon's music minister
at church. At Wayland's urging, Leon recorded his first three songs
in Nashville at Kokopelli Studio in January of 2000. That's where
Leon met Adam Hampton his producer. Adam owns Kokopelli Studio. Adam
produces several artists and also plays keyboard in Ronnie Milsap's
band. Leon has now completed 6 projects. Two of his projects were
done as an independent artist at Daywind music where he also worked
with producers Marty Funderburk and Johnny Sansom of Daywind Music.
